A stunning century-old pen drawing made in 1926 by Hans Pluquet while was he was at the State Academy for Arts and Crafts in Breslau, Germany. Beautifully framed in characterful oak.

About the artist
Hans Pluquet (1903 - 1981) was a German artist. Pluquet was the son of a landowner. From 1921 to 1923 he studied at the Art Academy in Königsberg and at the State Academy for Arts and Crafts in Breslau between 1924 and 1928. He initially created watercolours, gouaches and pen drawings, primarily of landscapes. His style was influenced by Expressionism and New Objectivity. He increasingly made pen drawings and etchings. In Berlin, Pluquet passed the examination as an art teacher. After that he traveled to Paris.
From 1939 Pluquet served with the Eisenbahnflak in the Wehrmacht until he fell ill with pulmonary tuberculosis in 1944. In 1951 he moved to Neustadt (Bremen), where he set up a studio. He created book illustrations, took part in various exhibitions and created wall designs e.g. for the the Water and Shipping Directorate, the Parsevalstraße Gymnasium and the Halmer Weg school, the Bremerhaven Maritime School, the Bremen School of Construction and Engineering and the Links der Weser Clinic.
